Audience feedback is very important because it can help us create a better trailer. It shows us different view point and we can use these to add things into the trailer. Also a film poster is very important because it tells the audience what type of film it is and it can encourage them to go and see the film. If the film poster or even magazine cover isn’t enticing, then the audience won’t want to come see it. An example of this would be the film The Woman in Black because a lot of ad campaigning was done and because of this it became a very successful film. Another important thing is showing of what type of actors and actresses are in it like The Woman in Black did because if the audience recognises them then that can be another contributing factor for them to go and see the film. We gathered audience feedback by setting up screenings of our trailer in class and then getting people to evaluate them and give us feedback. By using the feedback, we were able to add small bits to our draft version of our trailer to give it some finishing touches to make it perfect. We also did a questionnaire on or trailer in which we got some good feedback which helped create our trailer. 75% of our results showed our audience was female and 25% of them were male.
From the screening of the trailer we got a lot of comments saying the ring filter was not needed throughout the whole trailer as it sometimes covered things that needed to be seen so we changed it slightly and only applied it to places that didn’t need to be as seen as other shots. Another piece of feedback is that the ending is a bit unclear as it looks like the trailer finished but then another clip plays and it’s a bit unclear. We changed the ending so it’s clearer on when the trailer ends. A positive comment we got was that there was a good use of sound effects as it complimented the trailer well in the rights places. Some feedback on my poster was that it wasn’t faded into the back ground enough, so I edited a bit more and made it fade out towards the bottom of the image so it looks more like it fades away rather than being a block that ends. We took all of this feedback on board and made the trailer with all the added bits. We also did the same for our magazine covers and posters.
We also did an analysis sheet for my horror trailer poster and magazine cover to see what people thought. I then used this feedback to make some changes to my products. I changed the image on my magazine slightly to make it look more empowering by making it bolder and blurring out the clown in the background. This then helped show the audience who the main person in the film was. I also took away the green to keep the colour palate more simple and makes it easier to connect the poster and magazine together. I also changed the font of the main text “Red Balloons” to the same font as the one I used for the poster to make them linked even more. Also I did this because I feel like the font was a bit plain and the font I used on the poster was a lot better for the type of film I was promoting.
For my poster changed the image of the clown to make it bolder. This then gave the audience a sneak peek of what the clown looked like in the film from a scary and intimidating angle. I also changed the billing block slightly and made the title more effective by changing the bit that said red to all red.
